Find the right livestock waterer for winter
Living the Country Life Radio Program
Ensuring a steady supply of fresh drinking water for your livestock can be particularly challenging during the winter months. However, insulated waterers designed for colder parts of the country can reduce the need to spend hours chipping away frozen ice. For additional convenience, consider purchasing a waterer with a floating lid that defies ice development and evaporation. Regardless of what type of waterer you chose, however, make sure it's large enough for your needs. For example, one horse will drink eight to 12 gallons of water per day. Pregnant or lactating animals will require additional water as well.
