Raising Highland cattle

Living the Country Life Radio Program

Highland cattle have lived in the rugged remote Scottish Highlands for centuries, and they are the oldest registered breed of cattle. Although most of today's commercial cattle in the U.S. have little resemblance to the Highland, the breed has contributed greatly to the industry. Early cattle breeders used Highlands to improve the blood lines of their herds, making them more hardy and resistant to disease. Today, Highlands can be found in all 50 U.S. states and in many other parts of the world.
