Whether you hatch fertilized eggs in an incubator or order baby chicks through the mail, getting started with a new group of chicks is very exciting. If arriving in the mail, make sure the chicks have a healthy appearance. If you're hatching chicks, move them to a warm location as soon as they hatch.

Do you have to use a special light to keep the chicks warm or can you use a regular lamp?Also does it have to be spring when you get the chicks,because at tractor supply i know they are selling chicks but its to cold to make a fenced in area outside so i wanted to use the cardboard box idea but my mom said no please answer asap?!
