Managing Weeds in Your Pastures

Quick Tips Brought to You from Purina Animal Nutrition LLC

For most of the year, we work to give our cattle the proper nutrients through feeding programs, minerals and more so it’s easy to forget one of the largest factors in their nutrition plan, your pasture.

Tips for Managing Weeds in Your Pasture:

  • Broadleaf weed infestation can crowd out nutrition rich grasses robbing your animals of inexpensive and nutritious forage.
  • Regularly walk their grounds starting in the early spring and continue until the first hard frost to scout out any weed infestations.
  • Over half of the summer’s pasture foliage is produced May through July so observe your land now to develop a preventative plan and keep every acre of your pasture for your cattle herd.
