Groundhogs were a common sight on our farm in Maryland when I was growing up. Our dogs would chase them up trees, catch them in fields, and then drag them into our lawn. It was slightly traumatizing! I don’t see as many groundhogs on our farm in Iowa, but that might be because we don’t have dogs chasing them. We see burrows when we are baling hay in the pasture. I like groundhogs.
I also like Groundhog’s Day. Mainly because it’s my mom’s birthday. Happy Birthday, Ruth Ann Johnson!
