A storm blew in over the weekend, and three of our four does went into labor. Two of them had QUADS! That was good in the first case, with all four kids healthy and fairly uniform. But the second doe struggled to give birth and the kids were all different sizes, one dead, and one tiny female that Bob saved with a warm bath in the sink. She is not able to compete for milk with her siblings, so we are tubing her morning and night and may have to bottle feed. That doe also has a hard bag and isn’t giving enough milk.
The third doe had big, healthy twins, something Bob prefers every time.
Here are some photos!
Michelle had never been on a farm in Sweden, and now she is in the thick of things, helping with quads.
If quads are uniform and the mom has milk, they can do well. We have our fingers crossed.
Caroline holds her favorite. They look like puppies.
This is the tiny black and white baby that needed a warm bath to survive. She isn’t out of the woods yet.
