Fence-line feeder | Living the Country Life

Fence-line feeder

March 14, 2012

I set the rule that I would not feed the sheep if the rams or the buck (Little Billy) were in the pen. Billy had horns he tried to stab in your legs, and the rams would try to knock you down when your back was turned. At first, Bob thought I was a wimp. Then after the rams knocked him down twice while he was graining the ewes, he agreed something had to change.

He decided to design a fence-line feeder that would allow you to pour the grain into the ewes’ trough without being in the pen. Here is his feeder, made out of scrap parts welded together. It’s heavier than he would like and must be lifted in position with the tractor loader, but it should work.
