Checking septic drain fields
Living the Country Life Radio Program
When you're miles away from where city sewer and water end, self-sufficiency is a necessity. While a septic system should last up to 30 years, septic system failure is both a nuisance and a health hazard that must be corrected promptly. There are many different causes of septic troubles, including poor construction, tank collapse, excessive dumping of antibacterial cleaners into the wastewater, and physical damage caused by recent remodeling projects. However, many people believe a lack of maintenance is the most common concern. Your septic tank should be pumped once every three years to prevent clogging and get rid of the sludge and scum in the tank.
