Benefits of a corn furnace
Living the Country Life Radio Program
If you're struggling with high energy bills, investing in a corn furnace may turn out to be a logical solution to your problem. Corn is readily available, affordable, and easy on the environment. Corn is a clean-burning fuel and does not produce the unpleasant smoky smell associated with wood heat. As a heat source, it's also remarkably efficient. In fact, one bushel of shelled corn provides four times the heat generated by a single gallon of propane. Corn heating units can be purchased for one room, an entire house, or outdoor buildings like sheds and barns. Typically, units require an exhaust vent instead of a traditional chimney system. Some vents can exit the side of a building, in a manner similar to the vent used by a clothes dryer.
