Project place
Kevin Davis looked at a rough-and- tumble piece of property bordering reclaimed Kentucky coal mining land and saw a farm. Not a conventional grain and livestock farm, but his farm, built his way. He bought the 120 acres, and after a lot of hard work, the fields, hills, and hollows are now a dream acreage for his family.

"I've always been a wannabe farmer," Kevin says with a grin. And now, not unlike a real farmer, he's got dozens of projects and plans in the works. He already has the fish pond, trail system, and chicken coop well under way, and he has plans for a horse barn, cattle operation, pool house, and tennis courts. Kevin and Pauletta's daughter, Micah, 13, hopes to raise rabbits; daughter Mallory, 5, has been charged with chickens; and 2-year-old son Dennison is, as of yet, undecided.
