Few perennials combine the beauty and durability of Astilbes, which will glorify a shady spot and render carefree service for your lifetime and beyond. They remind us of the early American warship, U.S.S. Constitution ("Old Ironsides"), which gracefully outsailed the enemy while cannonballs bounced off her sturdy oak planking. The Astilbe collection, named after that warship, contains four varieties, three each of a white, two different pinks, and a red for a total of 12 bareroot plants. These hardy plants make a superb ground cover, bloom over a long period, and never need staking.
