Make your own upside-down vegetable planter

Newspaper in tomato jug

Lisa Foust Prater

Step 2: Prepare the planter

Cut the bottom off of a clean one-gallon milk or water jug. Using a hole punch, punch four holes -- one on each side of the jug. Make the holes as far from the edge as possible. You can place a strip of duct tape on each side and punch the hole through it for added support if you'd like.

Take a piece of newspaper and form it into a cone. Place the cone inside the milk jug.
