  • No mantel? No problem!

When Lisa Prater's boys were little, they worried Santa wouldn't be able to get in since they didn't have a fireplace. Armed with scissors, a permanent marker, and duct tape, Lisa turned a dishwasher box into a faux fireplace. The boys colored the "bricks" and taped construction paper flames to the wall. Plastic hooks held the family's stockings, and kid-made decorations adorned the paper tree on the mantel.

The fireplace was made in 2006, and it still holds a place of honor in the playroom, where it is decorated for Christmas each year.
