Make your own root beer
Living the Country Life Radio Program
If you love soda, making your own root beer is a fun project for a cold winter day. The basic root beer recipe uses water, yeast, and sugar to create the carbonation. Although some people prefer to make their homemade root beer by scraping bark off a tree or digging up their own roots, you can easily purchase root beer flavoring mix at your local grocery store next to the vanilla extract. However, it is important to keep in mind that homemade root beer does contain a small amount of alcohol. The alcohol content is generally between 0.35 and 0.5 %, compared to the 6% in many beers.
