Hot design trend

Radio interview source: Casey Loyd, president, Cal Flame

The hottest design in kitchens right now is to put them outside. My dream outdoor kitchen would be out near the lilacs, irises and lilies. It would have shade at one end and a sunny area at the other. I would use it in the evening, so romantic lights would be nice, along with some type of insect control. I want a wood floor that won't decay and doesn't need much care. I want a grill and a fridge and lots of surface for preparing meals. Now all I need is a bucket of money!

Casey Loyd is the president of a company that specializes in what he calls "home resorts."

"The grill itself is probably the big factor, but then there are all the accessories that go with the grill," Loyd says. "Accessories for cleaning it before you cook, cleaning it when you're done, and drawers that hold everything you need without having to go back in the house. So it's kind of like going in your own kitchen, but outside."
