Singles in Agriculture
In the mid-1980s a single farmer expressed how difficult is was to meet single women interested in a rural lifestyle, and thousands of others shared his feelings. Soon after, Singles in Agriculture (SIA) was formed, and in 1986 it was chartered as a non-profit organization. The nationwide organization boasts 12 chapters in 16 states, and is dedicated to promoting education, recreational and societal opportunities for singles who have an agricultural background or work in an ag-related occupation.
In addition to monthly events planned by state chapters, there are three national SIA events held each year. The group recently celebrated their 23rd convention in Texas.
