Two New Bobcat Utility Vehicles
For 2015, Bobcat is rolling out the new 3400 and 3400XL utility vehicles with increased payload and towing, faster travel speeds, and an improved suspension system.
Heavy-duty hauling and towing
The 3400 and 3400XL are available with two engine configurations with a CVT transmission: a 40-hp. (570 cc.) gas engine or a 24-hp. (1,120 cc.) diesel engine. The cargo box load capacity for both machines is 1,250 pounds. The 3400 can pull 1,900 pounds while the 3400XL can tow a whopping 2,150 pounds.
A durable composite cargo box features a single-latch mechanism, an integrated fastening system, and tie-downs to secure cargo. A standard manual or optional hydraulic dump lever is available.
With a dealer-installed kit, both engines allow you to travel at 40 mph. The gas units have electronic fuel injection systems, which adjust to temperature and altitude changes to provide easier start up and responsive acceleration. The diesel models have automatic glow plugs to adjust to colder starting conditions.
The 3400 and 3400XL feature an adjustable independent front dual A-arm suspension and an adjustable rear de Dion multi-link suspension system. The system provides a more comfortable ride, tighter turning radius, and enables the higher payload and towing capacity.
Bobcat worked to enhance the interior and exterior styling on the new models. This includes a frame with flat-sealing surfaces to ensure a good seal, which will keep dirt and water out of the cab.
Front and rear windows, a roof, and canvas or hard-sided doors (available only on the 3400 models) can be easily added and removed. Once 3400 owners get the hinges installed, the doors simply lift on and off.
An ergonomic lever allows users to shift between high, low, neutral, and park. The four-wheel drive system allows you to shift on-the-fly to changing ground conditions.
Comfort was top of mind for both machines, including features like standard power steering and tilt steering and ample legroom. The 3400 comes with a standard three-passenger bench seat with three-point seatbelts. The 3400XL has two bench seats that can accommodate up to six passengers.
Bobcat has added under-the-seat storage and new storage across the dash. Two 12-volt accessory plug-ins also come standard on both models, allowing users to conveniently charge devices.
For machine protection, the utility vehicles have a full skid plate, constant velocity shield, and an optional brush guard.
Bobcat has included a new LCD display that you can toggle through to see the following items:
- 4x4 position
- Battery voltage
- Electronic fuel gauge
- Engine temperature
- Fuel gauge
- Service intervals
- Total hours
- Transmission position
