Buying an ATV: Proper fit

Living the Country Life Radio Program

If you've never purchased an ATV, you may be surprised to learn that these are not "one size fits all" machines. Since a rider's height and weight influences how well the vehicle handles on different types of terrain, a proper fit is essential for maximum safety. This is particularly important if you plan to let a child use the vehicle. At a bare minimum, the rider must be able to stand on the floorboards or the foot pegs with at least three inches of clearance on the seat. It's also a good idea to make sure the rider's fingers on the handlebars can easily reach the levers and brakes.
