Versatile implement

Radio interview source: Roger Gifford, product manager, Cub Cadet Yanmar

We have an attachment for our tractor that will scrape snow one week, and work on piles of gravel and lime the next. That's the way the weather goes in my neck of the woods, and I'm glad we can leave that tool on the tractor for lots of different uses.

Roger Gifford is the product manager for a major implement company. He says front-end loader buckets are the most popular attachment for compact tractors because acreage owners can use them to move just about anything around the property.

"They want to move gravel to dress up their gravel driveways, move mulch around to decorative bed areas, topsoil, burlap plant material, carry fertilizers in the front bucket and bag material," Gifford says. "If they're an equestrian or horse hobbyist, they can move sawdust and sawdust bins into the horse stalls, they can use it to grade off and clean pasture areas or clean riding areas. It's a pretty versatile tool."
