Battery-operated mowers

Living in the country is a little more expensive this year, especially if you have a large yard. I feel like we have to take out a second mortgage just to pay for the gas to cut the lawn. It isn't all that environmentally friendly, either. Mowing for an hour with a gas-powered machine produces the same pollution as a car driving 100 miles.
With all these factors in mind, it may be time to try out an electric mower. It'll save some money and run a little quieter, too.
Scott Kippes is the marketing manager for a power tool company, and says the new generation of cordless electric mowers has the muscle to mow down much more than a cracker-sized yard, thanks to dual power sources.
"It does feature a 60-volt power source for cordless mowing," Kippes says. "And also what's very unique is the power-select technology that we built into this, and specifically the ability to either run it off that 60-volt power, or plug it in and mow with the cord if you want, which is very unique. There are no other mowers out on the market that have that dual-power capability."
