John Deere Maintenance Monday: Mobile service

Living the Country Life Radio Program with Betsy Freese

Maintenance made easy

Radio interview source: Greg Weekes, group product marketing manager, John Deere Riding Lawn Equipment

In this edition of Maintenance Monday, Eric from Missouri has written us to bring up an issue that many of you face -- finding the time for routine tractor maintenance when you work all day and have other chores to do when you get home. Getting the machine to the dealership so they can do it can be a hassle. And if you ignore the little things like checking belts and changing the oil, it only creates bigger headaches down the road.

John Deere Product Marketing Manager Greg Weekes says there's no need to throw a wrench into your schedule, because dealers in many areas of the country now make house calls with a mobile service truck.

"A customer can either call the dealer or go online and schedule routine maintenance," Weekes says. "All he or she has to do is leave the tractor accessible, either put a key somewhere or put the unit in the front yard. The dealer will come by, put the unit in his trailer, do all the routine maintenance and return the unit."

Weekes says they'll service all kinds of outdoor power equipment from lawn tractors to utility tractors. Dirty stuff like changing the oil and other fluids, sharpening mower blades, replacing filters, and greasing up the axle can all be done at your home by the technician.
