All-terrain authority

This past September, Living the Country Life magazine teamed up with the editors of Successful Farming magazine, our sister publication, to complete the most exhaustive evaluation of all-terrain vehicles and utility vehicles ever conducted.

Putting UVs and ATVs to the test

This 12-member team put 18 vehicles to the test on the mountains and in the fields surrounding the Little Goose Ranch near Sheridan, Wyoming. These were actual tests performed by experienced riders in real-life conditions.

With evaluation segments including ease of shifting the transmission, ease of engaging four-wheel drive and differential lock, steering responsiveness and maneuverability, acceleration, braking, noise level, and general fit and finish, the testing was thorough and intensive.

Below is a list of the all-terrain and utility vehicles evaluated. Click on a vehicle to see how it performed and what evaluators had to say about it.

Hello. As you can see, the rest of the vehicles are posted on the page. Also, I decided to move a few things around in an attempt to make things a little clearer. To see the actual product guide targeting 400-cc ATVs, check out this story:

It's also located in the "Utilities & ATVs" section, and is titled "All about ATVs." Thanks again!

I'm confused. I looked for the results for the Land Pride and found figures for another John Deere XUV 850D.

That and the total score for the JD on page "/story/data/1197918517310.xml" should be 49.4 vice 35.

Hello. Justin Davey here, with Living the Country Life. Thanks for your interest in the story. To clarify, the vehicles listed above are both ATVs and Utility Vehicles. It is true that the test focused mainly on ATVs in the 400-cc range, with the exception of the Arctic Cat 700 EFI, however, the results of those vehicles haven't been poseted yet. They will be very soon. The Bobcat, Bush Hog, John Deere and Land Pride vehciles listed above are Utility Vehicles, which are larger in size. Again, thaks for reading and check back soon for a complete list of the vehicles tested.

Yourintroduction said that the test were targeting the 400-cc class of ATV's but, except for the Honda, these results are for much larger ATVs.
