Understanding box elder bugs
Living the Country Life Radio Program
The small black and orange bugs that love to hang around your house in the fall may look like Halloween decorations, but they can easily become a major nuisance. Although the bugs are not physically dangerous, they have a very unpleasant smell and secrete a small amount of fluid that can stain your walls, floors, and furniture. Pesticides are readily available to help you get rid of box elder bugs, but the best way to deal with the problem is to simply make sure the entrances to your home are tightly sealed and that you don't have piles of outside debris that extend an invitation for the bugs to nest in your yard.
