Avoid timber undervalue scams

Living the Country Life Radio Program

Trees, in addition to being quite beautiful, can be very valuable when it's time to sell the timber. Before you sell your timber, call your state's forestry extension program to learn more about determining the value of the wood. Then, market and advertise your sale accordingly. It's best to avoid doing business with unsolicited buyers, particularly those who try to pressure you to cut down trees quickly by claiming they are diseased. If a buyer seems to be rushing and won't provide specific details about the date of the harvest, it's a good sign he or she is running an unethical operation.
