When living in the country, a chainsaw can be one of the most useful tools to have on hand. Whether you find yourself needing to cut some firewood, clear a trail, or clean out branches, a chainsaw can prove invaluable.

You may currently have an older model, but newer models can make all the difference. Most importantly, they're much safer than in the past, and they're also more powerful, easier to start, lighter in weight, and more comfortable to operate. Many models have antivibration technology, providing operator comfort and less fatigue.

When choosing a chainsaw, bigger isn't always better. In fact, larger saws are heavier and more tiring to use than smaller models. Longer cutting bars can sometimes be difficult to maneuver in tight spaces or when cutting smaller jobs. Alternatively, choosing a saw without enough power or cutting capacity can be dangerous. Most every model is available with a range of cutting bar lengths.

Assess the work you wish to complete before buying a chainsaw, then purchase an appropriate model. The gas-powered saws in this guide average about 50 cc of engine displacement, perfect for most acreage use.
