Cleaning gardening tools
Living the Country Life Radio Program
Although hoes, rakes, trowels, and other tools should ideally be cleaned after every use, most gardeners skip this important step. However, it's essential to take the time to clean your gardening tools before putting them into winter storage. Soil that remains on your tools during the winter months can encourage rust, so proper cleaning is necessary to protect your investment. Tools that have been used for applying fertilizer may also have leftover chemical residue that corrodes metal. When you're done scrubbing, remember that pruning tools can be taken apart to allow you to sharpen the blades as well.
