Attracting birds this fall
As the birds prepare to head south for the winter, they're in constant search of new resting spots. You can help by taking a few simple steps to make your home more inviting to wild birds. In addition to choosing trees and shrubs that provide food and shelter for your feathered friends, make sure your birdfeeders are fully stocked. Since it is attractive to a wide variety of species, black oil sunflower seed is a good general purpose food for your bird feeders. A birdbath, particularly one that features a heater to keep the water from freezing, is also a necessity for autumn bird watching.
